Kwa is Married!

We hadn’t seen Sue Fen for quite a while and she emailed us recently saying that she was going to be back for a couple of weeks and wanted us to have dinner at her place. Eventually, it emerged that it wasn’t just a dinner, it was a reception. We joked that she was going to announce her engagement but found out later than she’d actually gotten married in December and this was our chance to meet her husband for the first time. Well, no one has ever said that Kwa does things the conventional way!

We also got to meet little Reuben for the first time! He’s been in Germany this whole time but Yun was back in Singapore for a few days. We had a good time and Adrian even got to catch up with his friend who’s Kwa’s neighbour and there for the reception.

Pamela’s Wedding

We attended my ex-student’s wedding on Saturday. Pam’s from my very first batch of students and was in my form class. It’s a strange feeling attending the wedding of someone you have taught! It made me feel very old although the age gap between us is not that big. I sometimes feel like a mother to her and I have to confess I was fighting back tears of joy when they were saying their vows.

We were stuck in traffic on our way to the church and I was quite frantic and worried that we would miss the wedding entirely! Thank God we managed to get there just as Pamela was walking down the aisle, even though we had to watch the processional from the entrance and then slip into the church to take our seats.

Congratulations to Pam and Jeff and I hope you have a marriage filled with love and laughter!

Wedding at Ritz-Carlton

We were at Adrian’s friend’s wedding on Saturday night and one of the guests there (David from LiveStudios) took these photos and sent them over:

There was a kids’ table at the wedding with a helium balloon attached to each seat. Every kid was given a jar of M&Ms in her favourite colour. There were also jars of gummi bears, Chupa Chups, Hershey kisses and marshmallows on that table. The menu for the kids was pretty fantastic and included things like mini pizzas, mini burgers, mac & cheese and ice-cream. I think many of the adults there secretly wanted to sit at the kids’ table. :)

Wedding lunch at Halia

We attended Lik Chee’s wedding lunch at Halia in the botanic gardens yesterday. It was a nice, sunny day so Anya didn’t want to sit still for lunch and wanted to run around outside the restaurant instead.
