Hi-5 House of Dreams: Goodbye, Stevie!

I can’t quite believe that Stevie Nicholson is leaving Hi-5! We have been watching Hi-5 for more than 5 years now and Stevie is so much a part of the group that we’re really going to miss him terribly. Thankfully, we get to watch him in action one last time when we catch Hi-5 House of Dreams at Marina Bay Sands on 12 and 13 September.

We’re going to have a lot of fun singing and dancing with Hi-5 so we hope to see you there.

Breakfast with Hi-5

Hi-5 has been part of our life for 5 years now and we were so excited to have breakfast with them last Saturday. Adam is a big Hi-5 fan and when Dayen sat down with us for breakfast, he was so overwhelmed that he became very shy and awkward. I guess I would be too if Hugh Jackman sat down in front of me!

Adam didn’t want to look at Dayen or even take a photo with her. He practically tried to burrow into my side! She was so sweet to him though and signed a cap for him. Dayen (and the rest of the Hi-5 cast) is really nice and so easy to talk to; we had a lovely breakfast with them. Thankfully, Adam warmed up eventually and had so much fun blowing bubbles with the Hi-5 members outside.

Hi-5 House Party

Adam caught Hi-5 live in action for the first time ever today! He’s a huge Hi-5 fan and watches them on TV almost every day. I’m so glad we managed to catch the performance because I love how his face lit up the moment Hi-5 appeared on stage. He was very excited throughout and was happily moving to the music and trying to do the actions.

It was an energetic performance and the highlight for Adam was when they had huge balloons/ balls bouncing around in the audience during the last song. He was over the moon because he got to touch the balloons a couple of times. I think we’ll be watching our Hi-5 DVDs at home for the next few days just so that he can relive the experience!

Hi-5 Holiday

We went to watch Hi-5 Holiday at Marina Bay Sands on Thursday and had a fun time! Anya wanted to wear a dress but also wanted to wear one of her Hi-5 t-shirts so she ended up with the tee over her dress and Jup Jup in her arms.

Jup Jup ready to watch Hi-5

We got there about 5 minutes before the show started and we bought a $30 show pack which contained a towel, a castanet, bubble solution, a passport cover, a luggage tag and a magnet. I think it was pretty ok for that price. I didn’t want to spend $10 on a foam hand or on a foil balloon though.

Hi-5 Holiday sees Tim, Stevie, Lauren, Casey and Dayen embarking on a trip to find Hi-5 island. Along the way, they stumble upon many other different islands and there’s lots of singing and dancing involved.  Our show pack came into use too! The kids pretended to be crabs by clacking with the castanet, bubbles were blown during an underwater scene and the towel was a dancing prop.

It was a very enjoyable performance and the cast really gave it their all even though the theatre was about 40% empty. I think the tickets were way too expensive so we were missing the energetic and lively atmosphere that you get with a sold out show.

I guess I’ll keep bringing Anya to watch Hi-5 until she decides that she has outgrown them because I like watching Hi-5 too!

Hi-5 at United Square

We went to watch Hi-5 at United Square on Friday! We got there about two hours before the show and since there was no sign of a queue forming, I went to Cotton On Kids to buy $30 worth of clothes to get a receipt to exchange for a photo pass.

We had a late breakfast at the toast place in the basement while I kept a sharp eye on the queue. It was quite confusing because there were two queues: one for the photo pass and one for the seating area! We decided to queue for a photo pass and then pop back into the queue for the seating area.

Anya was very patient throughout and I struck up a conversation with another mummy in the queue so the time went by quickly. It was our first time watching the new Hi-5 cast member, Dayen Zheng, in action. She’s very sweet but I think Anya misses Fely! The live show was really enjoyable as usual and Anya had a great time. Can’t wait to catch them at MBS in September!

Read about the Hi-5 live show at Millenia Walk last year, the Hi-T that we had with Hi-5 and the first time we watched Hi-5 live!

Hi-5 and Angry Birds Live Shows

On Tuesday, my mum and I brought the kids to Millenia Walk so that Anya could watch the Hi-5 live show. We warned her that she wouldn’t be taking photos with Hi-5 unlike at the Hi-T. It was super crowded and the Hi-5 cast put up a really good show. I can’t stand going for a live show, waiting ages for it to start and then it’s all over in 5 minutes (e.g. the Barney live show). The Hi-5 live show is one of the better ones around for sure!

My mum wanted to look for a new washing machine and after checking out Harvey Norman at Millenia Walk, we went down to Ngee Ann City so that we could watch the Angry Birds live show and check out the washing machines at Best Denki. The Angry Birds live show was okay but nothing to queue up specially for.

check out that crowd!
