Anya’s 4th Birthday: Party Resources

When Anya turned 3 last year, I was a pseudo-SAHM on maternity leave and I had so much more time to prepare for her party. I made the goody bags, the banner and some bunting. This year, I was really busy around the time of her birthday so I outsourced everything as much as I could!

The first thing I settled was her birthday pinata. We ordered Mr Bump from Pinata Shop, an Etsy store based in Singapore. The pinata was very well-made and held up for quite a while even though it was full of things and badly abused by the children. I stuffed the pinata with lots of sweets (sorry, mummies!), little bouncy balls, squishy balloon heads, stickers, liquid balloons and various noise-makers. I also added some shiny confetti and the little ones really liked that.

It’s impossible to find Mr Men & Little Miss party stuff in Singapore so I ordered mine from Jenn’s Kids Store on eBay. Great seller! Very quick delivery and fuss-free transaction. I bought a birthday banner, table cloths, goody bags, balloons and cake toppers.

We got a carrot cake from Cedele in the end since Adrian decided that he couldn’t make the cake. The cake toppers looked really cute on the cake!

For the goody bags, I decided to keep it simple by giving each kid some shiny Mr Men stickers (also from eBay), a Mr Men or Little Miss book, a box of Mr Men Little Miss biscuits (from Cold Storage Jelita) and a reflective keychain (not pictured). The usual full-size Mr Men was a bit big for the goody bag so I got the little board books that come in a box of 6. I ordered them from Book Depository. I also threw in some marshmallows that were originally meant for the pinata.

I’d actually ordered Mr Men & Little Miss t-shirts for Anya, Adam and myself from Qoo10 but had a terrible experience with the seller. He got 2 out of 3 orders wrong and didn’t turn up when he said he would to give me the replacements and didn’t provide any explanation whatsoever. When I contacted him again, he replied the next day saying he would come that day but at the last minute claimed he had lost my address and wasn’t able to deliver the shirts! I got a refund eventually but what a waste of my time!!

Finally, I decided to come up with some photo booth props along the theme of Mr Men Little Miss after being very inspired by the ones Debra made for her party. I wanted them to look cartoonish so I traced (freehand!) the image I wanted onto coloured paper, cut it out and stuck it on black paper to give it an outline.

I made Little Miss Naughty’s green ribbon, Mr Tickle’s arm, Mr Birthday’s party hat (that one was difficult), Little Miss Clever’s red glasses, Mr Uppity’s hat, Little Miss Birthday’s balloon and Mr Slow’s moustache. Some other items I wanted to make but didn’t have enough time to were Little Miss Bossy’s hat, Mr Bump’s bandages, Mr Chatterbox’s phone and Little Miss Sunshine’s hair!

I really had fun making the props and I think the grown-ups had a good time posing with the props. The kids were too busy playing to bother very much with photo-taking so almost all my props survived the party except Little Miss Birthday’s balloon which Anya broke!

And that’s our Mr Men & Little Miss party!

Crayon Rolls from The Lil’ Roar Store

all rolled up

let the colouring begin!

How incredibly cute are these crayon rolls?? They are made by Debra who sells them over at The Lil’ Roar Store. She also has a mini art folio which includes a little notebook so kids can draw and colour whenever and wherever.

Debra uses really good quality fabric for her crayon rolls and they are lovingly made. If you are a mother of young kids, you need to have one of these in your bag at all times to keep boredom at bay. They are also great as ‘thank you’ gifts for a birthday party.

Mother’s Day Gifts

One final Mother’s Day post! For Mother’s Day, I got a little pot of flowers made by Anya in school and the book of devotions she put together in Sunday School. The husband got me a DODOcase for my iPad and I absolutely adore it because it makes my iPad look like a hardcover book plus it has my name on it! I also bought myself a little gift from Etsy: a trio of sterling silver bangles, held together by a heart, with the kids’ names and birthdays and our names and wedding anniversary stamped on them. I love being able to carry my little family around like that. :)

Notepad Fabric Wristlet from Etsy

I super love my new customised hand-embroidered notebook fabric wristlet from Etsy! I love that the font for my name looks like it could very possibly be my handwriting. I love the embroidered paper plane on the other side. I love the paper planes fabric used for the strap and the inside. I love that the cloth is of such good quality and that the entire thing is so well-made. I love that I can fit everything I need inside. And I love that the seller is local! :)

Bite Me – Wooden Teethers from Etsy

It’s way too early for Adam to start teething but that’s certainly not stopping me from looking at cute teething toys online. Check out these adorable wooden teethers from Little Alouette on Etsy! The teethers are made of locally sourced hardwoods and, if not left unfinished, are finished only with certified organic flax seed oil.
