The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint- Exupery is one of my favourite books so I was really bummed about missing The Little Prince Art Collection at the Fullerton Hotel. For some reason, I thought it only ended sometime during the June holidays so I was planning to go down with the kids but the last day was actually 31 May.
Fortunately, I didn’t make the same mistake with The Little Prince in the Dark at Alliance Francaise. The exhibition ends 20 June so I went down with Anya today. French visual artist Arnaud Nazare-Aga has created 13 all-white sculptures of scenes from The Little Prince that are presented in the dark to be discovered by the senses of touch and hearing. The first edition of a Braille version of the book, which comes with illustrations done in relief, is also on show. The exhibition is held in collaboration with the Singapore Association of the Visually Handicapped.
Just outside the gallery are some paintings by Kai Xu, an 8-year-old boy with Sturge Weber Syndrome, an incurable condition that primarily affects the brain causing seizures and glaucoma in the affected eye. This exhibition is intended to create awareness of this medical condition.

While The Little Prince in the Dark is a small exhibition, it is meaningful and worth checking out if the location is not too out of the way for you, and if you like The Little Prince. You can see it at Societe Generale Gallery on the 2nd floor of Alliance Francaise at 1 Sarkies Road.
