I love that Singapore’s tap water is clean enough to drink straight from the tap and I have no qualms about drinking tap water, but only if it’s been refrigerated because I don’t like the taste of tap water. I still give my kids cooled boiled water to drink, however, because there is no way of knowing whether the tap water has come into contact with sediments and contaminants as it travels through the pipes.
With three little ones in the house, putting aside a sufficient amount of cooled boiled water was quite a troublesome and time-consuming affair. I spent way too much time boiling water and setting aside boiled water for cooling. Since I have a mixer tap that is not connected to hot and cold pipes, I opted to use my mixer tap to split the filtered and unfiltered water instead of having a separate drinking faucet.
The installation took less than 45 minutes and there was no mess involved. The filtration system takes up very little space. I can have clean water straight from the tap for myself and the kids and there is the added bonus of extra kitchen counter space since I don’t need to have pitchers of cooled boiled water!
