We celebrated Sam & Dan’s birthdays last Saturday at Happy Willow. They are born 4 days apart and will have to celebrate their birthdays together for years on end. Mummy Juan’s birthday is right in the middle so they won’t be able to forget her birthday either. ;)

Kwa is Married!
We hadn’t seen Sue Fen for quite a while and she emailed us recently saying that she was going to be back for a couple of weeks and wanted us to have dinner at her place. Eventually, it emerged that it wasn’t just a dinner, it was a reception. We joked that she was going to announce her engagement but found out later than she’d actually gotten married in December and this was our chance to meet her husband for the first time. Well, no one has ever said that Kwa does things the conventional way!
We also got to meet little Reuben for the first time! He’s been in Germany this whole time but Yun was back in Singapore for a few days. We had a good time and Adrian even got to catch up with his friend who’s Kwa’s neighbour and there for the reception.
First Birthday Party of the Year
We gathered at Lin’s place on Saturday to celebrate Qi & Von’s birthdays. Was a bit annoyed because the party was supposed to start at 1.30pm and, despite my best efforts to get there late (yes, you read that right), I was still the earliest at 2pm. The rest only started coming from 3pm onwards. Very frustrating to feel that my time is totally not being respected but I guess I should be used to it after 20-odd years of friendship with these people. Sigh. Well, the kids had fun playing and it’s always nice to spend time with my friends (when they eventually arrive).
Christmas 2012 – Christmas with the Gang
We had a little gathering at Juan’s place on Boxing Day. It was a happy and chaotic party with ten little kids, and they were all crawling/ jumping/ running around. The only one who stayed where he was placed was little Aaron, the newest addition! He’s the 14th kid (and 12th boy) in the gang.
I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of meeting up with this mad bunch of friends. It’s been about 20 years since we started celebrating Christmas together. They are like family to me and I’m glad our kids get along and can play together.
The pictures below are all taken by Vonnie.
HortPark Outing
Went to the HortPark on Monday to let the kids play while we caught up with each other. It was quite a hot day but we managed to find some shade where we could hide in and watch the kids run around.
I think it’s really important to bring kids out to a place with lots of space to encourage them to get active because they spend so much time with the TV/ iPhone/ iPad these days. Of course, it’s even better if the kids are spending time with my friends’ kids so I get to hang out with my friends as well!

Adam’s First Birthday – The Celebration
We decided to keep things relatively simple for Adam’s first birthday and took the easy way out by booking the Playhouse at Temasek Club. The indoor playground was a hit with the kids and the party package also came with food and simple goody bags.
We borrowed and used the decorations from Isaac’s birthday party and I made a photo banner featuring each of the 12 months of Adam’s first year.
I wanted to get Adam a simple cake in the shape of figure one and after checking around, found out that Four Leaves offers the best deal. The cake was pretty yummy and more than enough for all the guests present.
Adam slept through the first half of his party but woke up in time to cut his cake. He was a bit bewildered by all the fuss but cheered up considerably after having some cake.
