The Cat in the Hat by SRT’s The Little Company

What do you do when it’s raining outside? Use your imagination, of course!

The Cat in the Hat

The Cat in the Hat came to visit at DBS Arts Centre – Home of SRT this weekend and the kids and I managed to catch him.

Dr Seuss’ most famous character is brought to life on stage in this latest staging of the Cat In The Hat by SRT’s The Little Company. How does an awesome story get even better? Why, by adding music, dance, and a whole lot of on-stage craziness, of course.

The acting and comic timing were superb, while the kids loved the funny facial expressions, frantic movement and dancing. I especially liked the fact that the sets and props stayed true to the original illustrations in the book, with the trademark squiggly lines in abundance.

then, out of the box came Thing Two and Thing One!

The highlight of the show was the Cat’s (ultimately failed) attempt at balancing various items, including a fish in a bowl, a rake, books, an umbrella, a teacup, a cake, and other household items, all while standing on a ball.

'have no fear of this mess,' said the cat in the hat.

The Cat in the Hat is really good fun, not just for kids, but for everyone who has ever been a kid. Catch it while you can.

Your mother will not mind at all if you do.
