Trapeze Level 1

One of my new year’s resolutions was to get back into Circus Arts and I’m rather chuffed to say I managed to keep that resolution! Still working on the other 3 resolutions though. I’ve been attending Trapeze Level 1 at Simply Yoga and it’s so much fun! I have to bring David along to class with me because I’m still nursing every 2 hours, but thankfully the other students in the class are all mothers so they are willing to put up with his crying and even help me to carry him. I am incredibly grateful to them, especially my cousin-in-law who gives me a lift there every week!

I hadn’t done circus in almost a year before starting on the trapeze class and I’m still terribly out of shape and definitely the worst in the class. I really need to lose weight and build strength! But I’m quite proud of myself for signing up and making it through each class. We recently had our graduation class and we all dressed up for it. Should have some interesting photos to share soon! I’m going to start on Silks Level 1 next week so I’m looking forward to it.

Swensen’s Velvety Mom-ents Cake

with 2 of the 3 reasons I'm entitled to celebrate Mother's Day!

with 2 of the 3 little people that call me Mummy!

MothersDayEDM_680 (424x600)

I think Mother’s Day is one of the most important occasions in the calendar. Mothers do so much every single day and Mother’s Day is the perfect time to show your mum just how much you appreciate and love her. I know I look exhausted in the picture with my giant eye bags and I’m as tired as I look because I’ve been waking up at night to feed the baby. But I feel like a million bucks sitting there with 2 of my 3 kids and this gorgeous Velvety Mom-ents Mother’s Day cake that reminds me that everything I do is worth it!

Velvety Mom-ents from Swensen’s is a tasty combination of vanilla ice-cream and red velvet sponge cake. I love the heart shape and the pretty flowers decorating it. Velvety Mom-ents is priced at $49 (excluding GST) and no advanced ordering is required. Available at all Swensen’s and Earle Swensen’s outlets while stocks last. Get a sweet treat for Mum today!

Group Therapy at Katong V

I’ve been attending trapeze classes at Simply Yoga in Katong V so Adrian and the kids came along with me the other day when it was a public holiday. We ate at Group Therapy before my class and I think it was the first time we had brunch with all three kids!

David was nursing and dozing but not making any fuss so I could eat the entire meal in peace, which is very rare. Anya and Adam fed themselves and ate heartily because the food was good. A very peaceful meal! I could even take photos of the food (excuse the crap quality; they were taken with my phone in low light) and the kids.

GREASE is the time, is the place, is the motion!

Grease lockup_landscape HR - season (600x424)

When I was in junior college, the school put up a production of Grease and I thought about auditioning for it, learnt some of the songs, but eventually changed my mind. I do, however, remember most of the lyrics of the songs from the show and was delighted to be able to sing along during the opening show of Grease at Grand Theatre, Marina Bay Sands last night!

Grease takes place in and around fictitious Rydell High, and follows ten working-class teenagers in 1959 as they experience the intricacies of love, friendship and rebellion. The story revolves around the relationship between ‘bad boy’ Danny Zuko, who believes he is the coolest kid on the block, and ‘girl-next-door’ Sandy. Although Grease is set in the 50’s, the story-line is still so easy to relate to and the songs are as catchy as ever!

Grease premiered on Broadway in 1972, and the first London production opened six months later. The stage production was followed by the 1978 hit movie starring John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John. This new multi-million dollar production features a top-notch international cast direct from a sell-out tour of Australia.

I was glued to my seat from the moment the lively performance started and I’m glad to say the energy level was sustained throughout the show that lasted 2 hours and 20 minutes. The singing was superb and the vigorous dancing was a delight to watch. I was singing bits of the songs all the way home and I would love to watch it again but will be satisfied with digging up the movie to relive the performance!

Catch Grease from now until 18 May 2014!

Gardens by the Bay Tulipmania 2014

After planting tulips at Gardens by the Bay two weeks ago, we visited the Flower Dome again to check out the tulips in bloom! It was a beautiful sight indeed and the kids were amazed by the different types of tulips in such a range of stunning colours. I wish my photos could do the tulips justice but you really need to see them in person to fully appreciate the flowers!

Adam’s School Excursion – Doughworkz by Pastamania

Accompanied Adam on his very first school excursion and it was a pizza-making session at Pastamania. There was a PowerPoint presentation about the history of pizza and pasta but the 3-year-olds didn’t really appreciate it and just wanted to get their hands on the pizza ingredients.

The kids needed help with stretching and prepping the dough for the pizza base but were able to spread the tomato paste and put the toppings on. Adam ate quite a bit of the toppings before the pizza was sent to the oven for baking! He’s not usually the pizza-eating sort but he must have been really proud of the pizza he made because he ate about half of it.

Some of the kids starting falling asleep near the end of the programme and a few more collapsed in the bus on the way back to school. Adam nearly dozed off in the cab on our way home but I kept him awake because I couldn’t carry him and the baby at the same time. He had a solid 3-hour nap when we got home!

David is 3 Months Old!

David 3 months

My littlest one, you are 3 months old today! It’s been a tiring 3 months for me. You need to be fed every 2 hours, even at night! Only very recently, you decided that you would sleep 4 hours at a stretch at night. Thank God for that. But your daytime sleeping has gotten worse! You take ages to fall asleep then wake up soon after. On certain days, I barely have time to do anything productive.

You sleep slightly better when we are on the go, so I use that as an excuse to gallivant everywhere with you in the baby carrier. But you only sleep if I’m walking around so you tend to fuss and cry when we’re on the bus. As a result, we get quite a few people offering unsolicited advice on how to stop your crying!

Even though you are only 3 months old, you have already been to Ho Chi Minh City and Taipei, and will be heading to Penang soon. You won’t remember anything about these trips but where I go, you go too. You’re basically glued to me until I return to work.

Your siblings adore you and want to plaster you with little kisses whenever they can. Your sister prefers you to her other brother, but I think it’s because you don’t fight with her over toys. Your brother seems to think you are some sort of adorable pet and doesn’t understand why I need to be taking care of you when he wants my attention.

You tend to look quite serious most of the time with your brows constantly knitted in concentration. But you have been a lot more smiley recently and you have the most adorable smile! My heart melts whenever you flash me a toothless grin and I forget how tired and frustrated I am. You are also very talkative and like to coo and gurgle and make random talking noises. I’m quite sure I heard you say ‘hello’ to a lady in the lift today and it freaked me out!

I only have 2.5 months before I return to work and I won’t be able to spend 24/7 with your awesome baby squishiness anymore. So for now, it’s just you and me most of the time and I really want to cherish the moments! Love you, my little sweetheart!
