Kids at the Gardens: Feed Me!

There are lots of exciting programmes for families and kids at Gardens by the Bay during the March holidays and Anya had a preview of one of the programmes last Saturday. She learnt about carnivorous plants in Feed Me! and made one from recycled materials to take home with her.

Feed Me! is suitable for kids 4-6 years old. Before a tour of the conservatories, the kids learnt about the various things that plants need to survive, then they discovered how different plants thrive in different ways. The kids were fascinated by the carnivorous plants, especially the Venus flytrap, and the craft activity after the tour ensured that they each had a Venus flytrap souvenir to catch ‘insects’ with.

Some of the other programmes include learning about how plants reproduce, what the creatures in the soil do and the ecosystem at the Kingfisher Lake. There are also fun activities for the family. I’m keen to sign Anya up for Stories in the Understorey, another programme suitable for kids 4-6 years old. Stuck On You Labels

I love to label the kids’ stuff and we have lots of name labels at home. But I’ve come to realise that bag tags, clothing labels and shoe labels are really important too. We got some from Stuck On You the other day and they are especially useful now that Anya and Adam are both going to school and have to wear the same uniform and use the same type of schoolbags as their classmates.

On certain days of the week, Adam has to change out of his school uniform (for water play, etc) and it’s so easy for his clothes to get mixed up with his friends if they are not labelled. He’s also going into childcare soon so I need to make sure that his things don’t get lost or taken by someone else. I think the clothing labels will help him to take responsibility for his own items and ensure that he brings all his things home.

The Stuck On You clothing labels are colourful and have great designs. They are also terribly easy to apply: just peel and attach by ironing over the label with the parchment paper on top (included inside). They stay on well and don’t fade after washing.

Anya has the same white Bata school shoes as her cousins, and when she goes over to their place once a week, it’s really hard to tell which shoes are hers (except that hers are usually grubbier)! So the shoe labels are really useful! Just the other day, we were at a birthday party and Adam had taken off his shoes and left them in the middle of nowhere. Good thing someone saw the shoes and returned them to us because they were labelled with his name.

The Stuck On You shoe labels are bright and colourful and stay in place. Unlike some other shoe labels, these don’t need an extra protective layer because there’s a built-in scratch-resistant coating. For kids who are still learning to differentiate their right foot from their left, Stuck On You has left and right shoe labels to help the kids put the shoes on the correct feet!

There are so many label brands these days but the thing that really sets Stuck On You apart is the range of attractive designs. You can choose from so many different colourful images and fonts! I know labels are meant to be practical but I’m quite particular about choosing labels that look good for the kids. Stuck On You labels are also of very good quality: the bright colours don’t fade and the labels stay put.

Enjoy free shipping from Stuck On You now with the promo code FREESHIPSG! This code is valid until 16 March 2014. You can also find many interesting gift ideas (such as personalised puzzles, storage boxes, reward charts, height charts) on the site as well! Have fun shopping!

Singapore Airshow 2014

Adrian took the kids to Singapore Airshow 2014 together with his parents, sister and sister’s boyfriend. Baby D and I stayed home because I didn’t think the noise would be good for his sensitive ears! Adrian got the tickets with a carpark pass so he could drive everyone all the way there in our car instead of having to take the shuttle bus.

It was a blazing hot day but I think they had a good time, and according to Adrian, everything was very well-organised. Anya refused to dress up for photos but Adam was sporting enough to take one. Some photos from their outing but no captions because I don’t know the context. Heh. The camera lens had a smudge in the centre but Adrian didn’t notice so all the photos are blurry in the middle!

Third Day of Chinese New Year: Visiting the Zoo!

I really appreciate the fact that Adrian is making the effort to take the kids out while I’m stuck at home during this confinement period. On the third day of CNY, he took them to the zoo! Adam has been going on and on for the longest time about wanting to take a ride on an elephant so that was the must-do for the day. And of course, they got to sit on ponies too! They look somewhat sulky in the pictures (it was really hot!) but I was told they had a lot of fun that day. There aren’t any photos of them on the elephant though!

Second Day of Chinese New Year

I met up with my family at my aunt’s place. My cousins and their kids were all there so it was really nice to be able to hang out. Anya & Adam wore their matching goldfish print outfits from BabyPixie, and Asher & Ellery wore the shirts I got them for Elly and looked very spiffy!

First Day of Chinese New Year

My mum’s helping me out during this confinement period but was really busy before and on the first day of CNY so I hung out at her place and remained there while the older kids and Adrian continued on to his grandma’s place. It was nice to see most of the people wearing red but I wasn’t expecting to do any CNY visiting so I totally clashed in my pink dress! Anya wore her Bright Horses cheongsam and Adam his red mandarin collar shirt with Bright Horses berms from Elly‘s Horse Parade collection.
