Sentosa Getaway!

We stayed at Rasa Sentosa last weekend and had tons of fun! There’s so much for the kids to do in and around the hotel that we didn’t really venture to the other parts of Sentosa even though there are many other holiday activities going on. It was a great weekend!

Third Lesson with Skate With US

We had our third lesson last Saturday but met the instructor at a void deck of a HDB block instead of West Coast Park because it was raining. Glad that the kids didn’t have to miss their lesson despite the rain! It’s really heartening to see the three kiddos improving slowly but surely. Anya declares that she loves skating and that she’s going to keep trying and trying and not give up. Love her determination!

Adam in his Uniform

Adam in uniform

Look who’s all ready to go to school next January! :D We bought him a uniform in the smallest size but the pants are still super baggy on him because he has the world’s tiniest butt. We have some difficulty getting the shirt over his head because he takes after Adrian in the head department. He refused to take off the uniform after trying it on and was walking all around downstairs with it on!

The Provision Shop

We checked out The Provision Shop at Everton Park last week. It’s just a short walk from where we got off the bus over at SGH and is quite accessible. When we got there, it was lunch time and the place was packed!

We ordered one of Belinda’s Perogis: a homemade Polish dumpling filled with Ricotta cheese and mashed potatoes topped with sour cream, bacon and chives. I liked the flavours! Anya didn’t really want to eat it because of the chives (she’s anti-vegetables) so I didn’t have to share. The Reuben Sandwich was pretty good too but I found it a bit too salty towards the end. The coleslaw that came with the sandwich was appetising.

The only thing I wasn’t too happy about was when I ordered a root beer float and the server brought me the root beer and ice-cream separately because they were out of vanilla ice-cream and only had blackforest which, according to the server, would not taste good in the root beer.

Since I wanted a drink and not a dessert, the ice-cream sat melting on the table, uneaten. I asked for the ice-cream to be taken off the bill and they were very nice about it so that was good.

The highlight for Anya was the senior citizens fitness corner beside the cafe. While she’s obviously not part of the target group, she had lots of fun with all the equipment there after our meal!

Frozen: the COOLEST Show in Town!

Frozen

Anya wants to change her name to Elsa! She decided this after watching the preview of Frozen with my aunt last Tuesday while we were off celebrating our anniversary. Frozen is Disney’s latest animated movie and is based on Hans Christian Anderson’s ‘The Snow Queen’. Elsa is the Snow Queen and Anya thinks she’s the coolest. I haven’t seen Frozen yet but I really want to after watching the trailer and listening to Anya talk on and on about the show. She thinks the show is super funny, loves the songs and wants to watch the show again!

I can’t wait to go and watch Frozen when it’s released on 28 November. For a great review, as well as suggested activities that can be done in conjunction with the movie, hop on over to Princess Dana Diaries!

8th Anniversary Dinner at Ocean Restaurant

We celebrated our 8th anniversary last Tuesday with dinner at Ocean Restaurant by Cat Cora. Adrian didn’t tell me where he was taking me for dinner so it was a pleasant surprise! I guess he knows me very well; I really enjoyed being able to sit in front of the giant tank for dinner.

The food at Ocean Restaurant is very good, but not spectacular. The portions are also quite small for the prices. I suppose people go mainly for the view and the experience! The service is very decent though. When Adrian was making reservations, they asked if it was for a special occasion and served us a celebratory slice of cake after we were done with our food. The servers were attentive and made sure we were comfortable.

On the whole, it was a great way to celebrate our 8th anniversary. Looking forward to many, many more years of love and laughter!

Gymnademics at Alexandra Retail Centre (ARC)

I have heard so many good things about Gymnademics but their location at SAFRA Toa Payoh was not ideal for us. So I’m really happy that they have a brand new outlet at Alexandra Retail Centre which is easily accessible by bus, train (Labrador Park MRT station) and has free parking on weekends! The 1500 sqft centre has two spacious studios and is open from 9am to 5pm from Wednesday to Sunday.

GymnademicsGymnademics is the first, and only, intellectual enrichment and gym centre in Singapore that is affiliated with the Institutes for the Achievement of Human Potential (IAHP) founded by Glenn Doman, a non-profit organisation that researches on how to develop and enhance children’s brain growth through physical education and intellectual stimulation. This is the key point for me because the enrichment classes in Singapore largely focus on developing either the physical or intellectual aspect but not both at the same time!

Through customised enrichment classes built upon the concept of purposeful play, Gymnademics aims to enhance the holistic development of a child’s physical and mental capabilities for children between 5 months and 5 years of age. There are 6 age groups: Bambino (5 months to 1 year), Crucero (9 months to 1.5 years), Pre-Fellowship (1 to 2 years), Fellowship (2 to 3 years), Launchers (3 to 4 years) and Virtuosi (4 to 5 years). Adam will be joining a Fellowship class in March!

GymnademicsIf you sign up for a Gymnademics class package at the ARC outlet before 30 November, you get to enjoy several opening specials: waiver of $68 registration fee, one complimentary session worth $69.80 and a lucky draw entitlement featuring very attractive prizes.

Gymnademics

I’m taking the kids to Gymnademics at ARC for a weekday free play session (Wed-Fri 10am-4pm; 1 hour at $15/ 4 hours at $40) next week and I know they are going to have a blast. Look out for more photos of the centre as well as a giveaway for a 4-hour weekday free play pass!

I’m really looking forward to Adam’s lessons at Gymnademics next year. Do take advantage of all the opening specials and join us on the ARC! See you there!
