We had breakfast at Treehouse Cafe at The Grandstand last Friday. It has an indoor ‘treehouse’ and a play area for children. I was expecting Treehouse Cafe to be quite interesting since it’s by the Sol Playground Cafe people and the latter had a nice sheltered playground area. Sadly, I wasn’t very impressed at all.
The ‘treehouse’ was a second level within the cafe. I was very concerned about the large spaces in the staircase railing and kept worrying that Adam would fall through as he made his way up and down. (Update: They’ve since put netting on the staircase to cover up the large spaces.) There were some boxes of LEGO and other small toys but otherwise nothing much for the kids to do up there. Great for imaginative play, I suppose? There were also similar boxes of toys on the ground level as well as some tables and chairs for the kids.
The food was pretty decent: Debs enjoyed her pancakes and I liked my Eggs Ben. But Adrian wasn’t too happy with his breakfast and declared that it’s something he could have easily assembled himself. Which in his language means he doesn’t think it’s worth paying for.
There’s a big space outside so I wish they had put a small playground there like the one at Sol Playground Cafe instead of filling it with tables and chairs. We probably won’t go back because there’s nothing much for the kids and I don’t have peace of mind when they are going up and down the stairs because Adam still falls down quite a bit. I think they have free craft activities every 1st, 3rd & 5th (if any) Sunday of the month from 11.30am – 2.30pm so I may consider bringing Anya for those without Adam around.
