Asher is ONE!

My nephew Asher turned one last Saturday! He’s such a dear little boy because he is always super happy and active. I think he’s probably the baby that Anya spends the most time with!

This was him when he was about one day old.

Reflections for Anya’s Eighth Month

I can’t believe you’re already eight months old!! Where did the time go? Just a short while ago, you were my tiny little baby who couldn’t sit up without support and now you’re sitting up on your own! I’m still amazed when I see you go from lying down to sitting up all by yourself! Early in the month, you were still rocking back and forth in the crawling position and lurching around but by the end of the month, you were crawling! You are still unsteady but you can definitely get around. You’ve grown up so much this month and you’re looking taller and less chubby!

Towards the end of the month, you would also move your fingers when asked to do “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star” and would flap your arms around in an approximation of clapping! You also like to hold on to someone’s thumbs and clap the person’s hands together.

The month didn’t start out so well because your great-grandfather passed away. You’re now left with only 3 great-grandparents! You spent quite a bit of time over at Punggol during the wake and you were the only great grandchild present during the funeral and cremation. Fortunately, you were quite well-behaved.

This month, you went to the zoo for the first time but didn’t enjoy yourself because you chose to fall sick (also for the very first time) on that day! You had a lot more fun when we spent the last few days of the month in an apartment at Fraser Place at Robertson Quay. Your clever daddy won the 3D2N stay in a golf tournament!

You are such a joy to be with and you seem to do something new every single day. I look forward to the rest of the time with you but I already miss these eight months that have passed. Just know this: you are loved!

you’re showing more interest in your books!

you tried to make friends with the cat

you got up to no good with Cousin Asher

you met Aunties Kylie & Wynne (but decided to sleep through most of the encounter)!

you decided you were a cat

you laughed

you enjoyed your baths

you had tons of fun at Fraser Place

that’s you on the day you turned eight months old!

Rawr! I’m a scary halloween monster!!

Decided not to dress Anya up for this year’s Halloween since she can’t even stand yet and won’t be able to show off any sort of costume properly. Instead, I put her in this Old Navy orange skull-and-bones onesie that I bought for $3 from one of those outlet shops in Clementi.

Anya goes to the Zoo!

We went to the zoo on the Monday after Deepavali since it was a school holiday. However, we couldn’t tell that Anya was not at her best. While we were there, she was cranky and lethargic but we thought it was because she was sleepy. Then her nose started running and her eyes were tearing too. We left as soon as we could to see a doctor and by then she had a slight fever. My poor baby!!! :(

I was quite appalled by the changing facilities for babies at the zoo. Anya had a very big poop while we were there and I had a hard time changing her. The pull-down changing table was fixed on the wall between the entrances to the male and female toilets. There was no surface for me to put the baby bag, the bin was not within reach, the sink was far away.. It was a nightmare!!
