Reflections for Anya’s Seventh Month

This is a short update because I’m so busy!! I feel like I haven’t spent very much time with you this month. I stopped expressing breastmilk for you and by the end of the month, you were completely on formula and you seem just fine.

Your daddy and I went on a holiday without you and we missed you SO much! We left you with a photo cube to remind you of us.

While we were on holiday, we kept thinking about you and talking about you and wanting to buy things for you. Your Ah Ma sent us regular SMS updates (which were sometimes confusing because she didn’t use punctuation) and MMSed pictures of you as well. I hope that we won’t have to go on anymore holidays without you!

You met up with some of my JC classmates and we also went to Auntie Linli’s house to celebrate her birthday and we celebrated Kor Kor Alex and Reuel’s birthdays too.

This month, your diet expanded to include porridge cooked with vegetables and fish. We also resorted to teething rusks to keep you occupied during our mealtimes. Mummy went back to work this month so you now spend most of your waking hours in Clementi. You are utterly spoilt by your Ah Kong and your Yee Po.

You and I had some nice alone time when daddy was in Bintan for a weekend golf tournament. This month, you are still willing to let complete strangers carry you and you were also a lot more smiley.

I look forward to the rest of the time with you but I already miss these seven months that have passed. Just know this: you are loved!

Back at work

I went back to work last week after about 6.5 months of staying home with Anya. She’s usually still asleep when I leave for work. Adrian does a great job of getting her ready to go to her grandma’s while getting himself ready for work. Sometimes she fusses and cries on the way down to Clementi but most of the time she’s ok with her lion and caterpillar keeping her company in the back seat. I miss her so much when I’m at work. :( I think about the way she cries when she’s hungry, the way her mouth opens wide in a big toothless smile when I lift her up in the air, the way she laughs, the way she plays with my hair when I’m feeding her, the way she smells… SIGH…

Every morning, she wakes up and cries at about 5.30. We’ll bring her to our bed from her cot and she’ll go back to sleep between us. I’m not sure if this is a big no-no that will lead to the forming of a bad habit or anything like that but I don’t really care because I relish that one hour or so that I have her warm chubby body curled up beside me. I love dozing off and then opening my eyes to see her sweet little face deep in sleep. I love having her close to me. :)

JC Class Gathering!

Slightly more than a month ago, I decided to take on the thankless task of organising a gathering for my ex-JC classmates. I still don’t know what possessed me to do it. Pregnancy must have fried my brain. There were 17 of us in 2AH, Class of ’98 in ACJC. Currently, 5 are living/ working/ studying overseas. I shall cut a very long and painful story short. After sending out MULTIPLE emails and SMSes, I managed to get 6 of the 12 people in S’pore to meet up!

The other 6:
1. CY is supposely in S’pore but completely MIA and uncontactable
2. SC declared that he would be out of the country (even before being told the dates we were considering)
3. JL has to attend classes every Sat
4. SK said she couldn’t make it
5. CL said he would come but couldn’t at the last minute
6. DF was initially enthusiastic because she wanted us to meet her kid. Then she said she couldn’t come because she had an appointment in the evening and didn’t want to stress her kid out by bringing her out in the afternoon as well. Then she changed her mind and said she would drop by after all. Then on the day itself, she emailed and said something urgent had cropped up.

Anyway. I enjoyed spending time with the 5 of my ex-classmates who made the effort to meet up. But I’m certainly not organising the next gathering because it would KILL me!!

The Book Depository Rocks!!

*gush*

I looove The Book Depository! They ship free of charge to anywhere in the world and the books come really quickly. I ordered four books on 24 Sept and the first two arrived on 30 Sept with the next two following shortly behind! And even without taking the free shipping into consideration, the books are the same price as, or even cheaper than, on Amazon. I bought the first Booker Prize winner, Something to Answer For, for US$22.96 on The Book Depository. It is US$23.08 on Amazon. Another Booker Prize winner, G, is US$9.48 on TBD vs. US$11.70 on Amazon. I am happy! :D
