Yun started having contractions on Sunday and delivered Reuel at about 8.45pm last night. Xin had to have an emergency C-section today and delivered Alex at about 3pm today. So it was really great that we could visit both of them at the same time, in the same hospital, on the same floor! Very convenient too. :) Thank God that both the mummies and both the baby boys are healthy and fine!

Update on Foetus Wee

Went to see Dr Soong yesterday and also got the results of the OSCAR (one-step clinic for assessment of risk) screening that we did last week. The blood tests results are good and the measurements taken during the ultrasound are fine as well. Our cat is definitely non-toxic since neither the husband nor I have toxoplasmosis. Good cat! My poor cousin, who’s also pregnant, doesn’t even have a cat and she has toxoplasmosis, probably from eating undercooked meat. The husband is slightly anaemic and his Hepatitis B immunity has worn off so he’s now a patient of a women’s clinic because he decided it would just be more convenient to get his Hep B jabs there. Haha. We also got another peek at Foetus Wee who has grown more than 1 cm since last week:

Foetus Wee was hanging around upside-down but looking quite comfy and happily kicking away. Good thing I can’t feel the kicks yet! We tried to see if we could tell the gender of the baby but couldn’t get a good view. I want a boy! The husband keeps calling me his China wife because he thinks I’m obsessed about wanting a boy. It’s not that I don’t want a girl but, for various reasons, I want a boy first and a girl later. We should be able to tell for sure by the next visit and even if Foetus Wee is a girl, it’s still a blessing! Strangely enough, Juan, Yun, Xin and Viv all wanted girls but all of them had/ are having boys.

OSCAR

Went for the OSCAR (one-step clinic for assessment of risk) screening on Thursday. This was basically an ultrasound and a blood test. As usual, I had issues with my peeing. When I went in for the ultrasound, my bladder wasn’t full enough so the technician asked me to drink a couple more cups of water. Also, Foetus Wee wasn’t cooperating and kept turning to face the direction of the ultrasound equipment instead of lying on its back.

So while waiting for my bladder to become more full, we had our blood taken for the various tests that had to be done. It was four vials of blood for me and three for the husband. I’m pretty used to getting poked by needles whenever I donate blood so it was ok for me.

After drinking about four cups of water (yes, I tend to overdo things), the technician still hadn’t asked us in for our 2nd attempt at the ultrasound so I went to bug her a bit because my bladder was going to burst. And indeed my bladder was way too full and Foetus Wee looked like it was squashed and also not particularly happy. So I had to specifically pee away two cups from my bladder, no more and no less. Specific peeing is no fun at all.

Foetus Wee was very active during both ultrasounds and was moving its arms and legs about like it was dancing to Mamma Mia or something. But it finally settled down and starting sucking its thumb so we managed to do all the measurements. The technician said the measurements are all ok which is good because I have been worrying. So now it’s just the results of the blood tests which Dr Soong will go over with us next week.

Baby Bonus!

We currently have four pregnant people in the gang:

Yun’s due 30 Sept so the baby could come anytime soon! Xin’s due 6 Oct, Viv’s due 6 Feb and I’m due 30 Mar. The three of them are all expecting boys. I don’t know my baby’s gender yet. Will only find out in a few weeks’ time. So we’ll soon have many more kids in the gang! Now there’s just Samuel:

one and four more on the way!

It’s so great that we managed to meet up with Viv yesterday night! It all started last Thursday when Crystal and I were emailing each other back and forth after she sent me that fake scary video clip. I told her I was expecting and she shared the news about Viv being preggers too. So I asked Crystal for Viv’s work email because she hadn’t been replying to the emails we sent to her Yahoo! account. Then while looking at the obituaries, I realised that Viv’s grandma had just passed away the day before. I emailed Viv to convey my congratulations (for the pregnancy) and condolences (for her grandma’s death) and she replied and said she was in Singapore and wanted to meet up!! So we all gathered at Ren’s place and had steamboat and a really wonderful time catching up! :)

Reflections for 3rd month of pregnancy

What I’m enjoying the most about my pregnancy so far is:
that I can just randomly accuse my brother of irritating me and my grandma will scold him. Haha.. Naah, I’m just enjoying the fact that the pregnancy’s been relatively easy so far.

The strangest advice I’ve received is:
that I’m not supposed to lift my arms above my head because that will disconnect the golden tube that links my boobs to my baby inside. -_-

Names that I’ve been thinking of:
Aidan for a boy. I know it’s quite common these days but I like it. The husband wants Amelie for a girl but I don’t like the way it looks and the meaning which is “hardworking”.

Girl or boy? I think you will be a:
surprise! I want a boy but a girl would be nice too.

The old wives tales predict:
that it’s a boy based on the lunar month it was conceived and my Chinese age. Haven’t tried any other old wives tales.

My hopes:
that I focus on the fact that God is in control.

My fears:
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.
