In the Mood for Good Food

There’s a lot of good food in Singapore, mostly in areas far away from where I live! I don’t like to go out of my way for food, but I make it a point to eat something ‘famous’ whenever I’m in an area I don’t frequent.

I was at Lavender collecting David’s passport the other day so I headed for Crawford Lane 5 minutes away to get myself some Hill St Tai Hwa Pork Noodle. I got there before they were open for business so I took a number tag and waited (and fed David in the kopitiam). Since I’m hardly in the area and was in the queue, I ordered a bowl for myself and 3 more packets to take back to my mum’s place.

It was a very tasty bowl of noodles and I loved the springiness of the mee kia. Wouldn’t mind queuing up for it again. I can totally see why they have managed to stay in business since 1932! Honestly though, I prefer the chilli at the Teochew mee stall that I’ve been eating from since I was a kid.

I had to collect some tickets from Red Dot Design Museum building last week so I dropped by Maxwell Market afterwards. There’s a ridiculous amount of good food there but I was after China Street Fritters that particular day. I think it’s amazing that they have been around for more than 60 years and their stuff is handmade and so delicious. The liver roll is my favourite.
